Compensation: $150,000-220,000 target

Billables: 1200

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced litigator with a strong background in employment law to handle pre-litigation demand letters, employment litigation, Labor Commissioner Hearings, and Department of Labor audit investigations. The Associate will be supported by an experienced paralegal and will be joining a team of four other experienced attorneys.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Function as the lead attorney in defense side employment litigation, including individual claims, class action cases, and PAGA matters. Attend court hearings, mediations, and depositions as required. Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Negotiate the resolution of pre-litigation demand letters, when appropriate.
  • Represent employer-side clients in Labor Commissioner hearings.
  • Assist employer-side clients with Department of Labor audit investigations.
  • Advise clients on a wide range of wage and hour issues, as well as discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims.
  • Collaborate with clients to address and resolve legal concerns and implement best practices.
  • Draft and review employee handbooks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with California law.
  • Conduct thorough legal research on nuanced employment law matters.
  • Remain current on developments in employment law and relevant legal trends affecting the firm's niche client group.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar in California; federal admission preferred but not required.
  • Two (2) years of experience in employment litigation
  • Experience with class action and PAGA matters
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to client service and ethical practice.
